Construction & Development Wins National Award
October 1, 2003 Succcasunna, NJ…Spectrum
Construction & Development Co., Inc. has been awarded the 2003 Custom Home Pacesetter Award. The
national award is co-sponsored by Custom Home magazine and the National
Association of Home Builders’ Custom Builders Committee. Spectrum competed with custom home builders
from throughout the country in several categories including Design, Production,
Marketing and Customer Service, and was selected for the top award in
Management. The Pacesetter Award honors custom home professionals who demonstrate a
strong commitment to excellence and whose business reflects this commitment by
consistently performing at a high level.
“We’re very excited to receive this
national award”, says Don Dyrness, President.
“We’ve won regional competitions in the past, but have never even
competed at the national level! This is
a first for us – first time we’ve competed nationally and our first national
award.”
Spectrum has revised and updated
their management systems over the past few years. Their goal is to create a
seamless construction process which ultimately delivers a better product to
their customers. The office operations
at Spectrum are totally computerized.
Once a construction contract is signed, a template is created for the
job using Microsoft Project. A sample
schedule is shown to prospective customers at the very first meeting.
When construction begins the
schedule is modified daily in the office and after the weekly scheduling
meetings with the construction management team.
“One of the benefits of using
computerized scheduling is that we can plan a job rather quickly, making sure
that all major tasks and decisions are accounted for as the job progresses,”
says Don. “For example, if a foundation is delayed because of rain, everything
behind it is automatically adjusted on the computerized project schedule.”
Spectrum Construction & Development Co., Inc. is based
in Succasunna, New Jersey. They specialize in designing and building
unique single family homes, major additions/renovations and light commercial

Dyrness. Spectrum has set itself apart
from other builders by offering a high degree of professionalism and personal
service to its customers. Their projects
are characterized by distinctive design, attention to detail and quality
craftsmanship. They have earned the
“Best Single Family Home of the Year” seven times from the New Jersey Community
Builders Association.
The 2003 Pacesetter Awards will be presented at the 2003 Custom Builder
Symposium in Disney World, Orlando, Florida
on November 15. Spectrum Construction & Development Co., Inc. along with
