Succasunna, New Jersey….A series of seminars is being offered for seniors and their families who are facing the major decisions in life that come with aging.  The first seminar

Elder Law & You is slated for March 15th @ 7:00 PM and will be held at the Spectrum Office Building located at 109 Main Street in Succasunna.  Debra Nicholson, Attorney at Law, will speak about a range of legal issues facing today’s seniors.  Some of the topics addressed will include wills, trusts, taxes and health care directives.  She will also cover the legal aspects of multi-generational housing and aging-in- place alternatives.

Ms. Nicholson is the founder of the Law Offices of Debra L. Nicholson, a full service law firm based in Sparta, New Jersey.  She received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and her B.A. from Bowling Green State University.  She is a lifetime resident of Sparta Township and former president of the Sussex County Bar Association and active in many local organizations.  She practices in the areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Real Estate, Corporate /LLC Formation and Land Use.

The seminar is sponsored by Spectrum Construction & Development Co., Inc. and offered free of charge.  Space is limited. Please call Spectrum Construction for reservations: 973-584-7732.

Spectrum identified a need for the seminars having seen an increase in the number of multi-generational addition/renovations projects aimed at accommodating older parents or grandparents into the family home.  They’ve also seen an increase in the number of renovation projects intended to make residences safer, more functional and accessible for owners who wish to remain in their home as they age, or at least as long as possible.

“Families come to us with a project in mind, like an in-law suite, and they have questions about financing and overall feasibility,” says Don Dyrness, President of Spectrum.  “We aim to provide a ‘one-stop shopping’ experience when it comes to the design and construction of your new home or addition/renovation.  So bringing together a team of professionals to assist families through a major life transition like retirement and aging, gives us the ability to provide more resources and ultimately better service.”

The cadre of professionals who make up the self-proclaimed “Dream Team for Seniors” will present two additional seminars this spring: Planning Ahead: Finances, Taxes & More, April 12th @ 7:00pm and Options for Care: In Home & Where Else to Turn, May 10th @ 7:00pm.  You may e-mail Don Dyrness: don@spectrum-construction.com or call 973-584-7732.
