Spectrum Wins Top Honors at Community Builders Association

Awards of Excellence

Succasunna, NJ— Spectrum Construction & Development Co., Inc. received two first place awards in the 2009 Awards of Excellence sponsored by the Community Builders Association of New Jersey. The gala awards event was held on June 10, 2007 at the Sheraton in Parsippany, New Jersey. Spectrum was the winner of the Best Residential Addition or Alteration category, in the $500,000 – $750,000 price range for the Boye residence located in Gladstone, New Jersey. They also received top honors in the Best Specialty Feature Room category for the pool house at the Boye residence.

The Boye project was complex and there were technical challenges, but our team, including our trade contractors and suppliers, works well together. The recognition is greatly appreciated.”

The CBANJ Award of Excellence is a significant honor because builders are judged by their peers as the best in the industry. From the homeowner’s point of view, it is also a seal of approval.

The Boyes were very happy with their large colonial in the quiet town of Peapack-Gladstone, so much so that they wanted to spend more time at home while enjoying their favorite recreational activities. The answer to their wish was an addition/renovation to add an enclosed pool and conservatory off the back of the house. The project also included a basement renovation to add a wine cellar, playroom, full bath and dance studio.

Energy efficient, green building products and techniques were incorporated throughout the project. The completed enclosed pool with its open truss ceiling, skylights and many windows is bathed in natural light throughout the day. A unique feature if the pool house is the glass Nana Wall™ installed at the southern end of the pool which, allows the pool house to be open to the outdoors in the warm weather and take complete advantage of the new outdoor living space in the yard. In the cooler weather, the wall effectively keeps the colder air out, while letting in the maximum amount of light. The design and construction of the conservatory also takes advantage of the light and views of the landscaped yard.

With their new pool house and conservatory the Boyes have the found the perfect place to get away and have fun together as a family-right in their own backyard!

Spectrum Construction & Development Co., Inc. is celebrating its’ 20^th year. Established in June of 1989, it is a family business, owned and operated by father and son, Dan and Don Dyrness, both long time residents of Succasunna, New Jersey. Spectrum specializes in designing and building custom single family homes, major additions/renovations and light commercial projects. Their most current project is 109 Main Street in Succasunna. The 109 year old house and barn are being renovated for use as professional office suites. The historic design details of the house and barn have been maintained using low maintenance, energy efficient materials. The 109 Main Street office suites are the keystone to the township Main Street Improvement Plan.
